Islands is the third release for Simon Hudson, Australian singer-songwriter whose highly original music weaves a captivating blend of world, roots and folk. Islands launches globally 19th June 2020 through label Songs and Whispers (Germany), distributed by Broken Silence (Germany).

The EP is called Islands because while recording it, Simon travelled back and forth between various islands - Florianópolis (Brazil), Cuba, and Australia. Travelling like this can feel like a sailor approaching unknown islands, and this is some kind of map for exploring uncharted territory. Islands is a fascinating mixture of roots, Latin and folk styles that trips lightly between samba, bossa nova, infectious timabala, moving folk ballads and a slice of classic 70s funk.

Simon Hudson named influences including Carlinhos Brown, The Cat Empire, Jose Gonzalez, Neil Finn, and Paul Simon.

Islands ist das dritte Veröffentlichung für den australischen Singer-Songwriter Simon Hudson. Islands ist ein originelle Mischung aus Welt-, Roots- und Folkmusik. Islands kommt am 19 Juni 2020 auf dem Bremer Label SONGS&WHISPERS heraus und ist im Vertrieb von Broken Silence.

 

Der Name der EP "ISLANDS" ist Program, denn sie wurde während mehrerer Reisen von Simon Hudson auf die verschiedensten Inseln geschrieben - Florianópolis (Brazil), Cuba, and Australia. Das Gefühl sich wie ein Segler ins Ungewisse treiben zu lassen war eine der Inspirationen für die EP. ISLANDS ist ein Mix aus Roots, Latin und Folk, das sich leichtfüßig zwischen Samba, Bossa Nova, ansteckendem Timabala, bewegenden Folk Baladen und ein bisschen klassischem 70er Funk bewegt.

Travelling Salesman

The first single Travelling Salesman (Apr 2020) will be released with a film clip. It’s an ode to the life of the touring musician - when you visit so many places with guitar and suitcase in hand, the hardest place to find is home.

Magalenha

The vibrant second single is a guaranteed dancefloor favourite, the traditionally styled Brazilian song Magalenha (May 2020) about a woman dancing the summer day away.
